Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to DAWGS foster carers Emma and Scott who completed their gruelling 4 Peaks Challenge by climbing Ben Nevis in 10 hours and 11 minutes. They raised a fantastic £535 for DAWGS – in memory of their own beloved collie cross, Shade, who passed away last year. Shade had been a rescue dog who’d had a very tough start but loads of TLC helped him overcome the trauma of neglect and cruelty. Although Shade loved long mountain walks, his adventurous lifestyle led to a few mishaps along the way – including falling from a cliff and breaking both his front legs. A few years later he had to have major spinal surgery but despite all this he went on to enjoy a many more adventures, walking munros, travelling in a canoe, and towards the end being cycled around in his wee bike trailer “the collie trollie”. Emma and Scott’s Challenge included some of Shade’s favourites and most challenging peaks – Ben Vrackie, Schiehallion, Sulliven and Ben Nevis. Emma explained “It was a really really hard walk but meeting some lovely dogs on the way with their people reminded and motivated us – it was all for the fourlegged ones. We’ve managed so far to raise £535 for you, which we are proud of, though we realise it’s a small contribution to the big cause of helping dogs. “You can read more on their 4 Peaks for 4 Paws Justgiving page, and the videos they made along the way, via the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?
